Anne Claire Lankford Crafton was born on May 27, 1935 in her parents’ little white house on Grab Creek Road. She shared this home with her parents, Basil and Florence Lankford, and her two older sisters, Evelyn and Edith, and her younger brother Gilbert.
She met the love of her life, Walter, on May 9th, 1954. From this day on, they began their grand adventure together. They married in Corinth, MS on November 26, 1955. The perfect example of a Christian wife, Anne worked at the Jackson Clinic while Walter finished his degree and then began her career as an officer’s wife and mother. Their life took them to all fifty states and numerous countries. They finished their journey back home on her family’s land in Dickson, TN.
Family was always at the center of Anne’s world. She was blessed with three children, Cynthia Smith, David Crafton, and Sam Crafton (Tracie). She also had three grandchildren, Jessica Southerland (Jon), Jonathan Smith, and Benjamin Crafton. In her latter years, she enjoyed spending time with her three great grandchildren, Ian, Lucas, and Oliver Southerland. She also held dear her nieces, nephews, and countless cousins.
Above all, God was alway first in Anne’s life. She showed her love of the Lord in everything she touched. She provided countless meals, cards, and phone calls to church members and friends. She was always ready with a scripture or words of encouragement. Her beautiful alto voice was always full of praise. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, especially her dear husband.
