Barbara Hazel Chittenden

Mrs. Barbara Hazel Pettigrew Chittenden, age 77, of New Johnsonville, TN passed away Monday, July 30, 2018, with her beloved family by her side in Dickson, TN. She was born Thursday, June 12, 1941 in Anderson, SC to Samuel and Elizabeth Pettigrew. She had a sister, Libby Ann Pettigrew. She married Leon “Chet” Chittenden on Sunday, August 23, 1959. He was the “love of her life”! They were married 59 wonderful years. On Monday, February 12, 1962, she had a son, Damon Chittenden. He was the “apple of her eye”. She loved his spirit and personality. Then, Surprise! 13 months later… She had a daughter, Dalyn Chittenden Patterson born Tuesday, April 23, 1963. She thought her family was complete! Dalyn married Herbert Edwin “Bert” Patterson, Jr. Saturday, October 8, 1983. She was proud of Bert and his business sense. On Saturday, March 28, 1992 Damon married Jane Voss. She was very excited to add another daughter to her beloved family. On Wednesday, May 5, 1993, Dalyn and Bert had her first grandchild, Rachael Lynn Patterson. She was happy to be a grandmother! Then Monday, December 11, 1995 Damon and Jane had her first grandson, Cody Alexander Chittenden. And on Thursday, January 16, 1997, Dalyn and Bert had her last granddaughter, Sarah Lynn Patterson. She dearly loved her grandkids! Her interests included… family first, yard sales, fishing, and pets. She raised cockatiels, baby bunnies, cats, dogs, fish and guinea pigs. She was a true animal lover and instilled that love into her kids and grandchildren. She was a Christian and a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church for many years. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and neighbor. As she loved her family, likewise, her family loved her! She dearly loved the holidays – all of them! Christmas and Halloween were her favorites. Mrs. Chittenden was a wonderful lady and will be missed by many! Visitation: will be held from 4:00 – 8:00pm Thursday, August 2nd and from 11:00am until service time Friday, August 3rd at Humphreys County Funeral Home. Funeral Services: for Mrs. Chittenden will be conducted at 1:00pm Friday, August 3rd in the Humphreys County Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Buddy Mullinax officiating.
