Barbara Ann Olvis

Barbara Ann Olvis, a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully left this world on March 1, 2025, at her home in Dickson, Tennessee. Born on January 28, 1942, in Dayton, Ohio, Barbara filled the lives of those around her with warmth, laughter, and love.

Barbara was the devoted wife of Ronnie Ovis for 65 years.  She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family, embodying the true spirit of a loving housewife and mother. She was a proud and patriotic wife and mother of military soldiers.  She took care of her husband's every need, ensuring that Ronnie Olvis felt cherished and supported every day of their lives together. The two shared many fond memories, including exhilarating motorcycle trips that captured their adventurous spirits, with a special trip to Niagara Falls standing out among their treasured moments.

Barbara’s kind-hearted nature extended beyond her family. She had an extraordinary ability to treat everyone she met as if they were her best friends, welcoming them into her life with open arms. Her faith in God guided her interactions and helped shape the profound connections she fostered throughout her life.

Her creative spirit shone through in her many hobbies. Barbara delighted in arts and crafts, immersing herself in games and puzzles, which brought her joy and a sense of fulfillment. Above all, she was a devoted lover of her lap dogs, affectionately known as her “babies.” Among them, Blue held a special place in her heart, providing companionship and comfort.

Barbara’s legacy continues through her cherished family, which includes her devoted husband, Ronnie Olvis, and her two sons, Kenneth Olvis (wife Stephanie) of Athens, Tennessee, Michael Olvis (wife Jackie) of Dickson, Tennessee and a brother, Hyles Jimmy Ferber of Athens, Tennessee. She also leaves behind four adoring grandchildren: Benjamin (wife Carmen), Shari (husband Austin), Zachary (wife Danielle), and Brandon (wife Joy), along with three precious great-grandchildren, all of whom were fortunate to know the love and tenderness she offered so freely.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Jane Florence (Lowrey) Ferber. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. We celebrate the beautiful life Barbara Ann Olvis led, a life marked by love, laughter, and a profound impact on everyone fortunate enough to cross her path.
