Susie Plant, 81, of Franklin, TN, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2023, and was laid to rest beside her sweetheart and husband, Phil Plant, on her birthday - Valentine's Day, February 14, 2023. (Those who knew Susie know she would have appreciated the symmetry of that.) The ceremony, per her request, was attended by immediate family only, with her pastor, Ben Pate, presiding.
Susie was born on Valentine’s Day, 1941, to John Ed and Madeline Ingram in Camden, Tennessee. She graduated in 1959 from Central High School in Bruceton, TN, where she was a majorette and homecoming queen. Her exuberant zest for life was her signature.
An accomplished academic, Susie secured a scholarship to Vanderbilt University, where she planned to study law. Instead, following her heart, after graduation she decided to marry the love of her life, Thomas Phil Plant - whom she met when she was just 13 years old. They were married on September 20, 1959, at First Baptist Church in Bruceton, TN. Susie and Phil’s love gifted them two children, Phillip Plant and Candace Plant.
Susie had a one of a kind, bigger than life personality. She worked in real estate for over four decades as one of the top producing Realtors in Nashville, where she won numerous awards, built lifelong friendships, and left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to make her acquaintance and benefit from her expertise. Susie was revered in her community and active in numerous charities.
Outside of her real estate career, she had an enormous circle of friends, touched many people with her generosity, and made more memories than most people could make in two lifetimes.
Most importantly, Susie gave her life to Jesus and was a member at Oak Valley Baptist Church in Franklin, TN, where she participated in Sunday School classes, Bible studies, and worship services. Susie was an incredible cook and, on the day she died, was preparing casseroles to feed those who could not feed themselves.
Susie was predeceased by her father, John Ed, and mother, Madeline Ingram (Earp), husband, Thomas Phil Plant, and brothers, Joe and Randy Ingram. She is survived by her children, Phillip L. Plant, Candace S. Plant, and her grandson, Jaxon Cash Plant, who she absolutely adored.
There will be a celebration of life at Oak Valley Baptist Church, Franklin, TN in the coming months. In lieu of flowers, Susie requested donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Oak Valley Baptist Church, Franklin, TN.
