Catherine Cavender

Mrs. Catherine Cavender, age: 99 Of: Lebanon, TN, formerly of Waverly Died: Monday, November 19, 2018 at Pavilion Nursing Home in Lebanon. She was born in Bakerville on October 16, 1919 and graduated from Bakerville High School in 1937. She and Gray Cavender, Jr. married in 1940 and lived in Durham, NC during World War II. They also lived for a time in several other towns including Dickson. However, she lived most of her life in Waverly and considered it to be her home. She worked as a dental assistant with Dr. James Powers, DDS, as a secretary with the Meriwether Lewis Electric Cooperative, and in a similar position with the Dickson Electric System. She was a member of the Waverly Business and Professional Women’s Club, the Garden Club, and the Waverly High School Band Booster Club. She enjoyed arts and crafts such as making pottery, china painting, and knitting. She was a good seamstress and cook. She was a devoted member of the Waverly Church of Christ, and during her time in Dickson, of the Walnut Street Church of Christ. She also enjoyed her family and friends and could be counted on by those in need. Visitation: will be held from 11:00am until service time Wednesday, November 21st at Humphreys County Funeral Home. Funeral Services: for Mrs. Cavender will be conducted at 1:00pm Wednesday, November 21st in the Humphreys County Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jeff Keele officiating. Interment: will follow in the Bakerville Cemetery.
