Charles Wayne Clay

The family of Wayne Clay is saddened to announce his passing on November 24, 2021 at the age of 85. Wayne was born in Old Hickory, Tennessee on November 7, 1936. He made the move to Hohenwald, Tennessee in 1953 where he met the love of his life, Doris Nell “Dot” McLemore. They were married in 1955, and Wayne began his career with Dupont in Chattanooga. This led to their final move in 1958 when Wayne made the decision to work for the new Dupont plant in New Johnsonville, TN. This is where Wayne and Dot built their life together. The two of them established lifelong friendships and made connections with some incredible people through his passion for golf and their involvement in the First United Methodist Church of New Johnsonville. Wayne will be lovingly remembered by his children: Randall (Kathy) and Todd (Sandy); grandchildren: Tony (Trish), Matt, Haley (Reese), and Candace; sister: Jackie Edwards; great-grandchildren: Taylor and Kendal; as well as numerous family and friends. Wayne was predeceased by his wife: Doris “Dot” Clay; parents: Raymond and Lois Clay; brother: Kenneth Clay; and granddaughter: Madeline.
