Clayton Daniel

May 29, 1921 — February 24, 2013

The family of Ray Daniel mourns the passing of a loving and caring soul. Ray died on February 24, 2013, after an extended illness. Born May 29, 1921, in Dickson County, he was the second of three children of Ennis and Trula Daniel. He served in the Army Air Force in World War II, stationed in Northern Africa. Following the war, he married Annie Jewel Rushton, his beloved wife of 65 years who passed away on March 29, 2012. Ray and Jewel settled in Waverly, Tennessee where they lived for over 55 years, and were devoted members of the Waverly Church of Christ. He managed the Southern Furniture Store in Waverly, and served as a magistrate on the County Court for Humphreys County and on the board of directors of the Humphreys County Nursing Home. Ray and Jewel have three daughters, Delores Daniel Sharpe (Murfreesboro, Tennessee), Darlene Daniel Conrad (Atlanta, Georgia), and Diane Daniel Kennedy (Franklin, Tennessee), as well as eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, all of whom he cherished deeply. A light has been extinguished in our lives, but he will live in our hearts forever. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Humphreys County Funeral Home located at 217 East Main Street, Waverly, Tennessee, beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2013, with the funeral service to follow there at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements by the Humphreys County Funeral Home (931)296-5955.
