He was a graduate of Delta State University in Cleveland, MS and Emory School of Theology in Atlanta, GA. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving during the Korean War. He loved baseball & playing golf. He was a fan of Mississippi State football and the Atlanta Braves.
