Dorothy Louise Jones

Dorothy Louise Binkley Jones Age 80 of Cumberland Furnace, TN. died March 6, 2015 at the home of her daughter, Sharon Gayle Cox of Brentwood, TN. She was born in Cheatham County, TN. She worked at the ACME Boot Company for 35 years and worked a house cleaning service for many years after ACME Boot closed down. She was known for the delicious cakes she made for coworkers and customers. Mrs. Jones loved her family , her animals and her gardening. She was the second born of 13 siblings known as "Sissy" to family and close friends and Dot to everyone else. She never met a stranger and had many friends. If a stray animal wandered to her house, they usually got a meal and often found a haven. She used to get upset with the cats, "as they were chasing her birds away" or the occasional varmint that got in her dog's food. Her home, in Cumberland Furnace, was a show place for shrubs, roses and plants that were started from a "clipping" from one of her brothers or sisters or friends place. She was always in a friendly competition for the best tomatoes, with her neighbors. There was generally a meal of beans and cornbread or a the very least a slice of fresh baked pound cake and hot cup of coffee at sister's place. Visitation: 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2015 and Wednesday 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Funeral Services: for Mrs. Dorothy Jones will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2015 from the chapel of Spann Funeral Home with Chaplain Dave Gerber officiating. Ruth Patterson of Phoenix, AZ Elizabeth Stanley of Knoxville, TN. 4 Grandchildren & 11 Great Grandchildren And a "whole lotta" cousins, nieces & nephews spread over the United States.
