December 30, 1926 — December 6, 2023

Eva Davenport, age 96, passed away at her Charlotte, TN residence on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, surrounded by her family. Born in Austin, TX to Esther and Bonfilio Santoyo, she lived most of her life in Chicago, IL working as a homemaker and later as an assembly line supervisor.  Eva enjoyed and was quite proficient in sewing and needlework, making many clothes for her family, crocheting and decorative needlework. Retiring to Charlotte, TN with her husband, Alvin, she easily transitioned from city life to country calm, and together they enticed several relatives to settle here as well.  In later years Eva enjoyed animal and birdwatching on her property as well as westerns on TV and following the Chicago Cubs.

There are many nieces and nephews, with Special Mention going to Robert and Marlo Davenport of Charlotte, TN, Joanne Powell of Charlotte, TN, and the late Tom (Sandy) Cheshire of Vanleer, TN whose love and assistance in Eva’s last years was so very much appreciated.

According to her wishes, Eva will be cremated.  A Celebration of Life is planned in conjunction with the Davenport Family Reunion in the spring.

We will miss her dearly, until we meet again.
