Gloria Cotton Logan

Age: 91 Of: Waverly, TN Passed away on May 31, 2014. Mrs. Logan was born March 19, 1923 in Greenville, KY to Bess and Millard Cotton. She earned a B.A. in Elementary Education from Western Kentucky State University in 1947; an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from Austin Peay State University in 1963; and an Ed.S. from Austin Peay in 1975. Mrs. Logan taught in various KY and TN elementary schools. She has lived in Waverly, TN since 1954 and taught at Waverly Elementary School as well as Adult Education at Waverly Central High School. From 1978 to 1982, she was the Superintendent of Schools for Humphreys County. In 1983, she served the Southern Baptist’s Convention Mission Service Corps as Principal of Carib Christian School in Puerto Rico. Upon her return from Puerto Rico, she held various positions including Student Teacher Supervisor at Austin Peay; Principal at Seven Hawks Educational School; and Education Coordinator at Highland Rim Head Start. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Waverly. Mrs. Logan is survived by her loving family of five children, six grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. Visitation: will be held from 1:30pm until service time Sunday, June 8 at the Humphreys County Funeral Home. Memorial Services: for Mrs. Logan will be conducted at 3:30pm Sunday, June 8 in the chapel of Humphreys County Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Tidwell officiating.
