Ivory Gene McCullough

July 11, 1932 — May 14, 2024

Dickson

Ivory Gene McCullough, known fondly as "Chainsaw" in his truck driving days, has peacefully passed into the comforting embrace of our Lord on May 14, 2024. Born on July 11, 1932, Gene had a life rich in diverse experiences and unwavering love for his family and God.

Gene's journey through life was marked by his exceptional skills and talents. As a truck driver, he navigated the roads with precision and dedication, earning the respect of many along the way. He dedicated his professional career to Stephens Truckline in Dickson. Upon retirement, he humbly served as a pastor at Grace Chapel Church, continuing to inspire and uplift all those around him. His later role delivering equipment for DCE brought him immense joy as he continued to spread the message of faith and love.

His ability to fix anything earned him the reputation of a true jack all trades. Whether it was carpentry work or tending to his farm, Gene approached each task with passion and expertise.

One of Gene's greatest joys was his yard, which he meticulously cared for, turning it into a vibrant oasis that mirrored his vibrant spirit. In moments of rest, he found solace in watching westerns, with John Wayne being his favorite - a reflection, perhaps, of his own strong and principled character.

A cherished husband, father, and grandfather Gene treasured the time spent with his family. His relationships were built on a foundation of love and faith that shone brightly in every interaction. His bond with his loved ones was unbreakable, a testament to the depth of his love and the strength of his character.

The scripture from 2 Timothy 4:7 encapsulates Gene's unwavering faith: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." These words resonate with the essence of his life and legacy.

In John 11:25-26, Jesus's promise brings solace: "I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die." Gene embraced this promise with open arms.

As we mourn the loss of Ivory Gene McCullough from our lives, let us also celebrate the legacy he leaves behind - one of hard work, resilience, and unwavering devotion to those he held dear. Though he may have embarked on his final journey, the memories of his laughter, wisdom, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

While Gene may be gone in body but not in spirit, let us remember his spirit soaring homeward like a shooting star — a radiant beacon of love and faith for eternity.
