Buckner, James A. (Artie) – Artie Buckner a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend passed away from complications of COVID on January 12, 2021, in Dickson, TN. Born June 17, 1959, in Knoxville to John and Estelle Buckner, Artie attended Farragut High School and the University of Tennessee. Artie spent most of his career in sales, and at the time of his passing, he was the national sales manager for Taylor Entrance Systems. Artie was a devoted Christian and served in many capacities and churches throughout his life. Artie deeply loved his wife and children and spent his time participating in their activities from coaching their teams, attending their various recitals and games, and supporting them and their friends in all their endeavors. He also loved being with people and had friends throughout the country and never seemed to meet a stranger.
Artie is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Kathy, and their four children: Benjamin, Andrew, Kaitlin, and Caleb, sister, Glenna (Robin), brother Terry (Pat), mother-in-law Phyllis Sietsema, brother-in-law Mark (Deb), sister-in-law Kerri (Marc) and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A private family service will be held at First Baptist Church of Dickson Friday, January 15 at 1:00. Service will be streamed live and may be viewed on Spann Funeral Home’s Website or Facebook at

Visitations of friends is Friday, January 15 from 5:00 – 7:00 at Spann Funeral Home. There will also be a graveside service for Artie in Knoxville at Edgewood Cemetery date to be determined.
