Emblem

James Robert Loggins, affectionately known as Robert by his loved ones, passed away on May 23, 2024. Born in Dickson, Tennessee on July 21, 1929, he was a dedicated, loving, funny, and reliable presence in all our lives. He was a man of many hats: a seasoned veteran, a devoted church member, a passionate farmer, and above all, a caring family man.

Robert served in the US Army during the Korean War, where he was a recipient of both the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. His bravery was a testament to his character; he was a hard worker and a man of honesty, values he carried with him throughout his life. After his military service, Robert dedicated 30 years of his life to the Ford Glass Plant, where his reliability was not just appreciated but celebrated. Upon retirement, however, his heart remained on his beloved farm, where he raised cattle with as much dedication as he gave to everything else in his life.

With a contagious sense of humor, Robert was a known jokester who loved talking and interacting with others. Nevertheless, he insisted, "I have two ears and one mouth so I can do more listening than talking."

The wisdom he held, coupled with his unwavering faith, made him a pillar of the Bethel Baptist Church in Dickson. However, before Bethel Baptist he served as a Sunday school teacher and a deacon at Dickson First Baptist Church. Robert was always passionate about loving the Lord and reading his Bible.

Robert was a founding member of the Dickson Co-Op and served on the board for the Co-Op and the Farm Bureau for many years. Even after stepping away from active farming, he enjoyed spending time at the stockyard, watching the cattle auctions. As Henry Ford once said, "Don’t find fault, find a remedy," and Robert lived these words, always finding joy and purpose in his work, be it on the production floor or in the cattle fields.

Please share your memories of Robert and upload photos to his memorial page. Your stories will help us all remember this remarkable man who touched our lives in ways we will cherish forever.
