Of: Waverly, TN
Died: Monday, October 05, 2020 at Signature Healthcare in Erin, TN
Jesse Eugene Thompson was born on September 06, 1938 in Buffalo, TN to the proud parents of Jimmy D. Thompson and Lillian Dorothy Thompson.
Jesse has lived many places and tried many things, but he settled in Waverly, TN with his wife Dorothy. His passion was to be a truck driver, and he did that for over 25 years, always telling stories of the places he visited and the people he met along with the crazy drivers out there.
Jesse will always be known for his kind heart, and the ability to always put a smile on someone’s face. He loved to tell a joke or share a story for past years, and it always left you wanting to hear more (even though it usually took an hour). His favorite stories were of him and his best friend (his brother Joe) and their mischievous behavior.
Jesse is preceded in death by his parents Jimmy D. & Lillian Thompson. He leaves to cherish his loving memory, wife Dorothy Thompson of 30 years of Waverly, TN; son Timmy Thompson of California; daughters Deveta Bare of Sevierville, TN, and Frankie Thompson of Waverly, TN; step-daughters Penni Graves of Mankato, MN, Kandy Robinson of Waterloo, IA, and Crystal Stelly (Steve) of Sevierville, TN; brother Joe Thompson (Dorothy) of Rockford, IL; sister Dorothy Wilkens; brother William Benefield; 9 grandchildren; nephews Chris Thompson (Lori) of Waverly, TN, Terry Thompson (Aneeda) of Rockford, IL, and Ronnie Colmen; nieces Kelly Cook (Estell) of Waverly, TN, Tiffany Nowling (Patrick) of McEwen, TN; caregiver Theresa L. Peake; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Life is but a stopping place, a pause in what’s to be, a resting place along the road to sweet eternity. We all have different journeys, different paths along the way, we all were meant to learn some things, but never meant to stay… Our destination is a place far greater than we know. For some, the journey is quicker, for some the journey is slow and when the journey finally ends, we’ll claim a great reward and find everlasting peace together with the Lord.
