John Walter “J.W.” Foster Sr. Age: 88
Of: Woods Valley, TN Passed Away: Tuesday January 16, 2024, at Horizon Medical Center. He was born on October 22, 1935, in Dickson County. J.W. was a cherished member of the community and will be remembered for his significant contributions and achievements throughout his life. J.W. dedicated 27 years of his career to the United States Department of Agriculture in Washington DC, where he retired as Chief of Standards and Review. His commitment and dedication to this role were unmatched. His passion for farming extended beyond his professional life, as he also loved working for the Sheriff's Office and the Dickson Police Department.
Throughout his life, J.W. explored various career paths and pursued his interests with enthusiasm. He worked as a driver for Bunny Bread, he worked as an over-the-road trucker, allowing him to travel and experience different parts of the country. In addition to his professional pursuits, J.W. was passionate about attending all grandchildren and great grandchildren activities as well as barbequing at family functions. He was actively involved in several civic organizations. He was a proud member of the Iron Lodge, the Easter Star, and the Shriner. These memberships allowed him to connect with others who shared similar values and interests.
J.W. had a zest for life that extended beyond his work and community involvement. He enjoyed spending time on the lake, appreciating its tranquility and beauty. Furthermore, J.W. had a talent for making music and could captivate others with his melodic tunes. His love for music was met equally with a passion for Buck Dancing, showcasing both his rhythmic abilities and lively spirit.
Visitation: will be 12 – 4 Saturday January 27, 2024, at the Spann Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: for John Walter “J.W.” Foster will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday January 27. 2024 from the chapel of Spann Funeral Home with Randy Bryant and Willie Suggs officiating. A Masonic Service will be held at 3 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
