With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joseph “Butch” Waychoff, who left this world peacefully in the early morning hours of January 6, 2025, at home, surrounded by his loved ones. His battle with stage 4 cancer began on October 15, but through rounds of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and radiation, he fought with resilience, determination, and grace.
Butch was widely known for his exceptional craftsmanship in millwork, a true “wood whisperer.” His unmatched skills and dedication to his craft left a lasting impact on the community, and he took pride in teaching others the art of woodworking. His hands created timeless pieces, and his passion for perfection was evident in every project he completed.
When Butch wasn’t working, he found joy in the great outdoors. He loved spending time at the beach, feeling the ocean breeze, and walking along the sand. Though Tennessee didn’t offer much of the beach life, Butch made the most of the rivers and countryside—kayaking, cliff jumping, and exploring on his four-wheeler. He loved the freedom of the open air, the thrill of adventure, and the beauty of nature.
Golfing was another passion of his, and he spent many days on the course, perfecting his swing. He cherished the time spent golfing with family, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Butch’s legacy is one of love, adventure, and craftsmanship. He taught us the value of hard work, the joy of exploration, and the importance of living life to the fullest. His memory will live on through his family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to know him.
A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on January 18, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 112 Cedar View Drive, Charlotte, TN. All are welcome to come, have a few drinks, share memories, and reminisce. Butch didn’t want anything fancy—just a gathering of those who loved him, to celebrate a life well lived.
He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
