Dr. Joseph Fred Whelan, Sr. Age: 83 Of: Dickson, TN Died: Tuesday August 15, 2017 at St. Thomas Hospital Midtown in Nashville, TN Dr. Fred Whelan was born September 11, 1933 in New Haven Ky. He was a well- known veterinarian in Dickson, TN and retired after 48 years. He was a graduate of Auburn University Veterinarian School, undergraduate of University of Kentucky, where he was a letterman on the U.K. track and cross country team. Dr. Whelan was also an Army veteran. He was a golfer, an avid reader and very devoted to his church and family. Visitation: Friday, August 18, 2017 4-7:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Spann Funeral Home. Funeral Mass: 12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 19, 2017 at St. Christopher’s Church with Pastor Mathew Perunpally officiating.
