Mrs. Karen Mullins McIllwain, age 72
Of Hurricane Mills, TN, passed away Monday, May 6, 2024, at her home, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and compassion. She was born March 31, 1952, in Biship, VA.
Karen dedicated her life to serving others as a Certified Nursing Assistant for 29 years before retiring. She then continued her service as an Assistant at the Waverly Senior Citizens Center. Karen will always be remembered for her warm personality and selfless nature. Known for having a servant's heart, she found joy in helping people, especially the elderly.
Outside of her professional life, Karen had a zest for life. She adored soaking up the sun at the beach or by the poolside, finding solace in the beauty of nature. Her hobbies included planting and tending to her flowers, a reflection of her nurturing spirit. Music was also a significant part of Karen's life; she had a special place in her heart for Elvis and The Temptations. Additionally, she found joy in watching "The Golden Girls" every morning.
Karen was a devoted member of the Waverly First Baptist Church since March 21, 1971. Her unwavering faith shone brightly in all aspects of her life, guiding her with grace and compassion.
One of Karen's proudest accomplishments was the love she showered upon her family. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, creating precious memories that will forever be cherished.
In addition to her dedication to her faith and family, Karen cultivated a deep passion for life. She approached each day with a kind heart and a gentle spirit, touching the lives of those around her in ways that words cannot fully capture.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00pm Wednesday, May 8th and from 9:00am until service time Thursday, May 9th at Humphreys County Funeral Home.
Funeral Services for Mrs. McIllwain will be conducted at 11:00am Thursday, May 9, 2024, in the Humphreys County Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Daron Brown and Bro. Adam Mullinax officiating.
Interment will follow in Wyly Cemetery.
