Martha Roth Runions

Mrs. Martha Roth Runions, age 87, of Chattanooga, TN passed away February 12, 2018 at Life Care Center in Chattanooga. Visitation: will be held from 4:00 – 8:00pm Thursday, February 15th and from 11:00am until service time Friday, February 16th at Humphreys County Funeral Home. Funeral Services: for Mrs. Runions will be conducted at 1:00pm Friday, February 16th in the Humphreys County Funeral Home Chapel with Richard Runions officiating. Interment: will follow in the Wyly Cemetery. Mrs. Runions was born November 18, 1930 in Dickson, TN to Louis and Thelma Roth. She married Roy Runions on July 23, 1950, they were married 56 years. After raising her family, she decided to go back to school at age 50 to become a LPN at Goodlark Hospital. She and her husband, Roy, raised their family in New Johnsonville, TN before moving to Chattanooga in 2004. She loved the Lord, being with family and friends, sewing, quilting, and music, especially gospel and country. The family cherished her sense of humor and loved to hear her sing. She played the piano, organ, and the autoharp and once performed at the Ryman Auditorium. Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Runions; infant daughter, Donna Runions; her parents; and siblings, Bobby Roth, Mary Elizabeth Davis, Billy Roth, and Patricia Corlew. Survivors include three children, Kathy (Peter) Markovich, Bill Runions, and Connie Patterson, all of Chattanooga, TN; 5 grandchildren, Josh (Leslie) Patterson of Lookout Mtn., TN, Lesha Patterson of New York City, NY, Jennifer (Mathew) Wooddell of Toledo, OH, Kathryn Markovich of Ft. Worth, TX and Jaclyn (Nolan) Dean of Helena, AK; 4 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, who loved her dearly. Mrs. Runions leaves many friends from her church communities at the New Johnsonville and Dickson Churches of Christ, and the Creekside Independent Living Center of Chattanooga. Pallbearers will be Terry Davis, Jim Davis, Brian Thompson, Mike Roth, James Lea, and Ken Owens. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
