Mary Lee Robertson was born March 25, 1921, on a farm on Cedar Creek, near Vanleer. Tenn. Her parents, Nolie and Emma Young Robertson, moved to Vanleer when she was five years old so that she and her brother, Fulton Robertson, could attend elementary and junior high school there. She graduated from Charlotte High School, where she played basketball, in 1939. She married Army private Hick Ferris Loggins, from Charlotte, in April 1943, just before he was sent to Europe to fight in World War II. They lived on his family's farm from 1945-79. She worked at the Henry I. Siegel Co. "pants factory" in Dickson during the war, was a substitute teacher in various Dickson County schools while her children were young and then cooked in the Charlotte Elementary School cafeteria for more than 20 years. Mrs. Loggins lived alone after her husband died in 1992. She was skilled in the domestic arts: cooking, sewing, gardening and steering people away from conflicts. She was a member of Charlotte-Fagan United Methodist Church, a fan of Vanderbilt basketball and a loyal Democrat. She maintained friendships with several younger people after most of her contemporaries passed on. Survivors include a daughter, Rachel Fussell of Dickson; a son, Kirk Loggins, Nashville; a grandson, Ethan Fussell, and his wife Telisha, of Charlotte; and three great-grandchildren, Ryder, Edy and Mia Fussell. Her family would like to thank the medical and nursing home personnel who helped her in recent years. Visitation 4-8:00 p.m. Friday, December 1, 2017 at Spann Funeral Home.
