Mary L. Walsh

Mary L. Walsh was born February 1st, 1941 in Knoxville, TN, the daughter of Cass & Elsie Mae (Henderson) Satterfield. She spent several childhood years growing up in Knoxville, TN and Valparaiso, IN before moving back to Vanleer, TN and graduating from Charlotte High School, class of 1958. After graduation, Mary moved from Tennessee to Chicago, IL where she began her working career in freight management. Mary’s two sons were the focus of her life through their graduation from high school and college. She was united in marriage to William (Bill) Walsh on May 18, 1991, in New Lenox, IL where they shared their life together until retirement in 2002 when they moved to Lake of the Ozarks, Rocky Mount, MO. Mary loved her life and the people in it. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed playing golf, was a member of the Eldon Golf Club, a member of AMVETS Lady’s Auxiliary and was the life of every social gathering. Her bubbly personality and beautiful smile inspired happiness in everyone she met. Mary found great joy in her grandchildren, passing down her love of flowers, rocks, turtles and all treasures found near their lakefront home. She is survived by her husband, Bill Walsh; son and daughter-in-law Scott and Sarah Hite of Pueblo, CO; son and daughter-in-law Greg and Kim Hite of Marion, IL; grandson, Noah Hite and three granddaughters, Abby, Rylee and Alison Hite. Through her marriage to Bill Walsh, Mary is survived by daughters, Kim Woofter & Shelley Thomas; sons, Greg (Donna) and Joe Walsh; and beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren; all of Michigan. Surviving siblings include: Libby & Delbert Corbin, LaVerne Selby, Carolyn Hayes, Edward & Mary Ann Satterfield, Pamela & Lee Brown, Kathy & John Boyer, brother-in-law Everett Kirkland; and several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Mary was preceded in death by: mother & father, Cass & Elsie Mae Satterfield; siblings, William Satterfield, Phyllis Kirkland, and Charles Satterfield. Arrangements for Mary L. Walsh have been entrusted to Spann Funeral Home, 1961 Hwy 48 North, Dickson, TN 37055 A time of visitation will be held from 4pm until 8pm on Thursday, December 6th. The funeral service will be held Friday, December 7th at 11am with interment immediately following at Union Cemetery, Dickson, TN.
