Mr. Fussell was born June 25, 1925 in Dickson County, TN
Murray grew up in Charlotte, TN in the Mt. Lebanon community. He attended elementary school at Mt. Lebanon in a one room schoolhouse under the instruction of Ms. Addie Steele. He attended Charlotte High and finished his high school education while stationed at Texas A&M University as a sailor in the United States Navy. One of his favorite memories from Charlotte High was playing running back and defense on the football team.
During his service in the Navy towards the end of World War II, he practiced alongside the Texas A&M track team. He was selected to train for a position on an amphibious assault team, and served on a submarine tender, the USS Beaver, on the West Coast. On Victory in Europe Day, he was assigned to patrol the streets of San Francisco as an MP, but instead, joined the celebration with the rest of the Nation.
After his service in the Navy, he attended college and played football at both UT Martin and Murray State University, graduating from Murray State alongside is wife Lucille. He went on to teach and coach at the high school level and then returned to UT Martin to teach.
While in Martin, he co-founded Martin Machining and later started up Airport Machining Corporation in Union City, TN. AMC manufactured ammunitions that were sold to the United States military during the Vietnam era.
In the early 70's, Murray and Lucille returned home to Dickson County. He finished out his career at Tennsco Corporation, where we worked another 17 years, and retired in 1993.
During his retirement years, he enjoyed spending time with his seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and watching his favorite football team, the University of Tennessee Volunteers.
He was an active member of Mt. Lebanon United Methodist church until he could not physically attend any longer

Funeral Services: will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2019 at the Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church with Dr. Joyce Lighari officiating.
Interment: Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery
