Nitasha Estrellita Turner

December 5, 1977 — November 29, 2024

Waverly

Nitasha Estrellita Turner, known to many as “Tish”, left this earthly existence peacefully on November 29, 2024. Her voracious energy, infectious laugh and free spirit will be a lasting void impossible to fill. She will be remembered for her vibrant spirit and compassionate heart. A proud and loving mother, even in the most difficult times.

Tasha was born in Waverly, TN on December 5, 1977. She attended Waverly Middle School and graduated Waverly Central High where she excelled, especially on the basketball court. She was a member of Salter’s Chapel AME church where she gave her life to Christ at age 11. As a child and into her youth she enjoyed singing in the choir and participating in activities for the church youth. As an adult she continued to worship at Salter’s Chapel where she occasionally spoke to the youth about obstacles she overcame. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 139, and she could quote all 24 verses by heart.

Growing up her friends would describe her as uber competitive, a bit of a dare devil and always excelling in sports. Tasha was a family caretaker and worked in various capacities in the service industry. She especially enjoyed the summertime, the river and those long days with her Doberman Pinscher “Damien” who would routinely occupy the front seat of her Camaro. Tasha enjoyed music and seemed to know the lyrics to almost every genre and would never fail to let you hear them on full blast. Tasha adored the artists Tupac and Prince. In fact, you couldn’t know Tasha and not know Prince. Prince has finally met his biggest fan. Her children enjoyed the long drives in the country listening to Tupac.

Tasha was a passionate Pittsburg Steelers fan and enjoyed game days with her cousins, uncles (I could go on) rooting the Steelers on. Tasha adored her children, family, and friends. Tasha’s children will tell you their sleepovers with cousins and friends were filled with nonstop laughing and the infamous “big” breakfast. Her fighting spirit and irreplaceable energy will be left with all of them. Tasha unapologetically lived life to the fullest in both health and sickness.

The big laugh, wily smile and vortex of unbound energy when she entered the room will be missed but hopefully carried forward by those who loved her.

Tasha’s request was to be cremated, and her children plan on honoring their mother at several different locations that Tasha would have enjoyed. There will be a Celebration of Life in early 2025 and the family will provide details in the coming weeks.
