Samuel Ray Buttrey, beloved father, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2024, at NHC Place at the Trace, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 9, 1950, in Davidson County, Tennessee, where he began a life that would be marked by dedication, passion, and a deep commitment to his loved ones and community.
Sam dedicated over 30 years of his professional life as an aircraft engineer with Triumph, formerly known as AVCO, in Nashville, Tennessee. His work reflected his strong sense of responsibility and devotion to excellence, leaving a lasting impact in the field of aviation.
Beyond his career, Sam was a devoted member of the Central Church of Christ, where he forged meaningful connections and contributed to the spiritual growth of his community. His faith was a guiding force in his life, and he found solace and strength within the church.
Sam's enthusiasm for life extended to his many interests. He was a passionate supporter of University of Tennessee Football, where he cheered on his team with fervor. Among his cherished hobbies, playing golf stood out, and he especially looked forward to attending the Masters Tournament each year, creating memories that would be treasured by those who accompanied him.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, and dedication that will resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. Samuel Ray Buttrey will be deeply missed but will forever hold a special place in the memories of his family and friends.
Visitation: will be 11- 1 pm Saturday September 7, 2024, at the Spann Funeral Home
Memorial Service: for Samuel Buttrey will be held at 1 pm Saturday September 7, 2024, from the chapel of Spann Funeral Home
