Trennette Shelton

Trennette Shelton, age 89, of Burns, TN, went to be with Jesus Monday, January 18, 2021 at Horizon Medical Center with her family holding her tight. Mrs. Shelton was a faithful “Granny” with the biggest heart, always putting her family first. She was born in a small, rural, Mississippi town as the youngest of 5 children. She worked hard and graduated as Valedictorian of her class in 1950. She went on to become her family’s first college graduate and began working for Metropolitan Life as an Office Manager, where she retired after 47 years of service. She was a devoted, military wife to her husband of 27 years before he passed in 1983. Additionally, Trennette was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dickson where she loved helping with Vacation Bible School & attending services. Throughout her life, she enjoyed many hobbies including square dancing, taking to the road to “just drive”, going on cruises and reading. But most importantly, she loved and lived for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the light of her life and she was theirs. She always wanted a hug when you came in and “sugars” before you left. Granny’s smile, love and warm heart will be forever missed. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, January 23, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Dickson, TN. A time of visitation will be held from 12pm-2pm with the service beginning at 2pm. Dr. Mike Miller will be officiating, Autumn McCoy will be video recording and there will be special song selections performed by Deanna Dodd, Steve Shepard and Justin Sullivan. Carl’s Flowers will be providing her memorial floral arrangements.
