As a consequence in 2010, he was deemed to be permanently disabled by both the Veterans Administration and the Social Security Administration. That same year, he moved to Olive Branch in Dickson where he was the youngest resident. He quickly became friends with the other residents and staff. Upon learning of his passing, many of those folks have reached out wanting to share feelings of loss, memories and "Bill Storys". During the last 3 years of his life, he traveled with close family members covering 47 or the 48 Continental States. One week from the day he died, another trip was scheduled which would have taken him into Utah - the only state of 50 he never had the pleasure of visiting. William did not have children of his own. Numerous nephews and nieces all loved him - especially at Christmas when he would arrive at his Mother's house with huge sacks of toys. He would ALWAYS wait until around 3:00 on the evening of Christmas Eve before he began this 'run for toys'. What a thrill he provided for all those youngsters year after year before they all became grown. At Olive Branch 2 years ago, he repeated that process for the children of those same nephews and nieces. As he passed our the gifts, there were fond memories and smiles on their faces. God Bless you William - you made the past 5 years meaningful for your surviving relatives and new found friends. We all will miss you very much.
