William Jewel Sensing Age: 87
Of: Burns, TN Died: October 21, 2018 at TriStar Horizon Medical Center.
Mr. William Sensing was born May 11, 1931. He was a native of Charlotte, TN and went to Charlotte schools. He spent four years serving in the USAF during the Korean Conflict. William earned a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tennessee. He worked for General Motors Delco Remy Division as a research engineer and authored several patents. He earned an M.S. degree in Physics from Ball State University in Muncie, IN while with GM. After nine years with GM, William went to Purdue University as a professor in Electrical Engineering Technology. After 20 years working with Purdue, he retired and came back to Tennessee to pursue a life long dream of raising cattle. For 15 years he ran a calf/cow operation. In 1998 he received the Soil Conservation District Master Conservation Farmer of the year award. He served two years as director of the local Farm Bureau. He also served as an elder of Brown’s Chapel Church of Christ for many years.
Visitation: 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2018 and 9:00 am. until time of service Wednesday, October 24, at Spann Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: for Mr. Sensing will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, October 24, 2018 in the Chapel of Spann Funeral Home, with Dr. Tim Sensing, Mr. Gary Sensing, and Mr. John T. Smithson III officiating and six grandchildren will serve as pall bearers.
Interment: Parker/Fowlkes Cemetery
