Wilma was born on March 9, 1939, to Archie and Ruby (Lee) Armstrong, of Dickson, Tennessee. She married the love of her life, Charles Frank Story, of Charlotte, on November 5, 1955. Together they built a beautiful life in Charlotte, blessed with 6 children; Sheila (Roger) Buchanan of Bartlett, Rickey (Maria) Story of Dickson, Frankie (Loretta) Story of Southside, Mickey (Lesa) Story of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Christopher Story, who passed away in October 1972, and Scott (Audrey) Story of Charlotte. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren; Anthony (Jennifer), Rachel (Corey), Robert (Tiwasha), Richard, Etta, Russell (Ashley), Randy, Jennifer (Cory), and Samantha, 17 great grandchildren; brother, Jerry Armstrong, and many nieces and nephews that were all very special to her. She worked for many years as a waitress at the Townhouse Restaurant in Dickson and was a Tupperware dealer for over 50 years. She also helped several families care for their elderly parents and was a volunteer for the Red Cross for many years. She was a woman of faith and was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Charlotte where she taught Bible classes for many years. Wilma loved reading and quilting. Most of all, she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Story, son, Christopher, parents, Archie and Ruby Armstrong, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roger and Mable Story, 3 brothers, Ralph, Buford, and Billy Armstrong, 2 sisters, Marjorie Hale and Betty Hudson, and grandson, Keith Story.
Visitation: with the family will be Monday, April 21, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until service time, at Spann Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: will begin at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from the Chapel of Spann Funeral Home, with Bro. Thomas Southerland, Rev. Gary Herndon, and Pastor Benton Jackson officiating.
Interment: will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Charlotte, Tennessee.
Memorials To: to the charity of one’s choice in lieu of flowers.
